Reason to reflect: America at 250
I think the current issue of Reason Magazine is going to be a keeper. About USA250. Baseball cards of the “1776 all stars.” Cute. A look back to the bi-centennial, which I remember (a picture of Queen Elizabeth outside Independence Hall in Philly reviewing red-coat reenactors). Choice. The editor in chief’s intro calling out the dysfunction of America in both 1976 and 2026, and ending not with “how can we fix our broken government” but with “it’s all up to you.” Bravo. Helpless collective dependence on Big Brother, or agency of individuals?
