The lake freezes hard enough to drive dump trucks full of rocks across in the winter.

I rowed one of these across the lake.   While I’ve done lots of canoeing and am pretty competent at it, this may have been my first time rowing a rowboat.  It was comical.  I didn’t drop an oar (a real possibility without oar locks) or I would have been up the proverbial Creek without a paddle.
